My son has braces. If I improve his diet I am concerned his harder teeth would be more difficult to move. Should I improve his diet?

There are far more elegant ways to move teeth and position his bite correctly than braces. That includes dental arch expanding appliances. Facial structure can be improved with an excellent diet.

The question is boiled down to, should you improve your sons diet? Of course. The reason why his teeth are crooked in the first place is a poor diet that led to improper development of the dental arch. If you really really improve his diet allot, his dental arch will widen, as he is still growing. This will help make his teeth straighter. It is also possible that the teeth will be more difficult to move because they are firmer. But at the same time, if they do move, they will more likely remain in their correct position, as braces can cause, dental distress and put some of the teeth out of alignment. Braces also cause root resorption in an extremely high number of cases. Eating an excellent diet will hopefully help limit root resportion.

I explain how to do this in detail in Cure Tooth Decay.
