Although you say your daughter had severe tooth decay when she was very young, did that affect her permanent teeth as well?  Or is it still too early to tell? My son is 7 and has fillings and two steel caps on baby teeth (molars).  I am wondering if he could still grow nice healthy strong adult teeth with no decay.

The adult teeth begin growth in the jaw from a very early age. For 7 years your son may not have had the best diet. This is what caused or contributed to his tooth decay. I know another parent whose daughter had severe decay and then her adult teeth came out nicely. My daughter's adult teeth also have no cavities.

It is possible with significant dietary changes that he can grow strong teeth, as the adult teeth still form and harden until the age of about 12. All you can do is make the best health choices possible now. Special foods to help build healthy teeth are described in my book.

It makes a huge difference what the child eats. There is not any scientific evidence that cavities in baby teeth are passed on to adult teeth. However what causes cavities in baby teeth, can cause cavities in adult teeth as well.
