Root Canals and How to Avoid Them
Root Canals, the purpose: To give you an honest evaluation of the root canal procedure, it's effectiveness, and its level of saftey. And most importantly, you want to know if you can avoid a root canal, I will give you some pointers on whether you really need this procedure.
First, What is a Root Canal?
Root canals are natural chambers in the roots of your teeth that are filled with connective tissue, blood vessels and nerves called the pulp.
You are left then with a dead tooth in your mouth.
Root Canals Are Not The Scientifically Best Treatment For Many
"Literally millions of root canals have been done when in reality there was no need for this procedure." Dentist Robert O. Nara
Sometimes the gum of the tooth is inflamed because of a gum problem, not because of a problem with the tooth root. And a root canal is wrongly prescribed.
Tooth Infections Can Be Healed And Prevented
It is possible to heal and prevent a tooth infection. It takes dedication and precision to do this. If you can heal and prevent a tooth infection, then why does the tooth root need to be removed when the body can perform its own cleaning and repair, under the right conditions. Our body can protect itself from tooth infections, given you are careful with your diet and provide yourself with the right kinds of foods.
Root Canals Can Cause Degenerative Disease
50 years ago Dr. Meinig was one of the founders of the American Association of Endodontists (root canal specialists).
Until Dr. Meinig read 1174 pages of detailed research by Weston Price (D.D.S., M.S., F.A.C.D) one of the world's greatest dentists, and his 60 man research team.
"[A] high percentage of chronic degenerative disease can originate from root filled teeth. The most frequent were heart and circulatory diseases. The next most common diseases were those of the joints, arthritis and rheumatism."
Root Canal Cover-Up
If you decide to have a root canal, I encourage you to read Dr. Meinig's courageous work, Root Canal Cover-Up before you get one. I can summarize it simply. A signficant portion of root canals become toxic, and cause a burden to the body. Sometimes they cause serious health problems.
This leaves you with three possibilities:
1. Follow Dr. Meinig's advice based on micrscope evidence is to have the infected tooth extracted along with the removal of some of the adjacent tissues. (My current understanding is that any tooth extraction should be used as a LAST resort, and that the newest root canal technology is less dangerous than in the past.)
2. Have a "safer" root canal with Endocal 10 that is cleaned out with ozone or other effective methods to sterlize the inside of the tooth to prevent it from rotting in your mouth.
3. Heal your teeth and thus prevent the root canal with nutrition!

Infected Roots Requiring Root Canals Can Be Healed & Prevented With Nutrition
"Recently I ran into several complications with my teeth. I began to develop an abscess near my gums. I went to have it checked by my dentist, only to find out that the tooth was infected and I needed a root canal, and a crown. I was devastated by these news, I felt like not only my teeth were failing on me, but also my diet. I've been following Paleo Diet for well over three years. Over the years i've noticed increase in muscle strength, resistance to common colds, as well as physical endurance. Lately due to financial reasons, I was unable to afford to buy high quality raw grass-fed bison meat, and at times had to resort to SAD (standard american diet). I noticed that whenever I would eat cooked food, especially white flour, I would get an instant reaction, and develop an abscess on my gums withing a fifteen minutes. Later if I ate raw bison meat the swelling would deprecciate and dissapear by the next day. I was upset that I could see the link between my raw meat consumption and reduction in gum swelling, but my dentist could not. Luckly I was recommended to seek out the help of Rami Nagel through my Paleo Diet Yahoo group. I was glad to find someone who was both knowledgeable in proper diet application as well as dental caries. Rami Nagel was able to incorporate both fields, and the knowledge that foods can heal, and as a result I chose not to do the root canal procedure. He suggested for me to eat more raw meat, which I have began doing, since then I have zero cases of abscesses. Glad I went against the root canal." - Tim, Student
"I was ready to have a tooth pulled and the dentist told me I needed a root canal but I had no money. I was in pain and the cheek had actually started to swell up. Within three weeks of trying the diet I could tell I was turning the corner. The tooth stopped hurting; my teeth all over became whiter. After over a month on the diet it is hard for me to feel which tooth was bothering me. When I look at it in the mirror it still has a hole but the tooth feels like it is healing. Thanks a million to Ramiel Nagel for writing this book. Unbelievable!" Leroy, Utah

What a Root Canal Procedure Looks Like
Please note that I do not advocate for root canals nor do I necessarily agree with everything this video says. However this video is a good demonstration of the common thinking and techniques used when doing a root canal procedure. Notice how you feel watching this video.
