Letter from a Reader:
"Dear Ramiel,
I purchased your book several weeks ago after getting my teeth checked at a dental clinic. The dentist suggested that I get my four wisdom teeth pulled and have root canals & caps done on several (5 or 6) of my other teeth. This was just way too radical for me, especially since my teeth weren't bothering me that much. I knew I had a couple of cavities and some gum problems due to occasional pain and discomfort here and there, and so I only expected nothing more than a filling or two.
Anyway, rather than going through weeks of unnecessary and undesirable dental surgery I ended up searching on the Net for whether teeth can heal naturally and ended up finding your videos and book. Thank you very much for all the information you provide. I've been following many of your recommendations as best as I can ever since, and I do feel that my teeth and health have both improved substantially. I no longer have any irritating gum problems, my teeth are definitely stronger now, and I rarely have any tooth pain. If and when I do, it's comparatively very little to what I was experiencing beforehand.
Additionally, your protocol also seems to have helped alleviate persistant adrenal fatigue I've been suffering from for many years. I really needed to eliminate sugar and all kinds of processed, nutrient depleted, non-foods from my diet, and start eating real nourishing foods. It seems that that's exactly what my teeth were telling me.
Kind Regards,
Boris."

"This is a must read! I had several very painful cavities postpartum (after having twins) that kept me up all night in pain and made it so I could barely eat. I could see the decay progressing as well in some of my teeth. I bought this book and read it again and again for the best understanding, I recommend reading it alongside Nutrition and Physical Degeneration and/or Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon. I just found that helpful, but those two books are not enough, you must read this book if you're serious about reversing and preventing tooth decay. My son also had a cavity (he's 3 1/2). After following the advice in this book accurately my tooth pain subsided within 24 hours and no longer hurt at all, my teeth also look nicer and my gums no longer bleed and are a nice pink color. The brown color on my son's tooth is going away and his tooth no longer hurts him. After just a couple of months (without a repeat of pain whatsoever) I went to the dentist and there was secondary dentin forming in my decaying teeth (as seen in my x-rays). The dentist was impressed with how strong my teeth were and that the tissues were so healthy despite having some cavities. It's not something they usually see. If they haven't been improving so well, he said he would have wanted to pull 2 of my teeth out. But since the tooth decay is reversing and there's no sign of infection at all, etc. my teeth are saved! The advice works! But you have to have an open mind and be willing to do your best to follow the advice to the letter, it's worth it! "

"Read the book, made a few adjustments in my approach to my diet as recommended by this book. The bottom line is, it works for me. Thank you."

"I noticed some deterioration in my teeth last year, so I started searching online to find out whether anyone knew anything about healing teeth. I found Rami's website and decided to buy his book. Although I had heard of Weston Price and Nourishing Traditions before, it was through Rami's book that I really came face to face with that information. It made a lot of sense to me. Especially thought-provoking for me was Rami's message to vegetarians (I had been one for 15 years). It was also helpful that he had actually set down a dietary protocol whose specific objective is to help teeth heal, which Dr. Price reportedly did not do. The protocol is challenging for me, but I have been introducing elements of it to the best of my ability.
Then I lost a filling. The first dentist I saw diagnosed decay and a probable need for a root canal, and said that the tooth might already be dead. Her pronouncement caused me untold agony over the next several weeks. Then a holistic dentist determined that the tooth is alive and recognized that it has totally re-enamelized. He simply replaced the lost filling. He told me I am lucky, because most people are not able to get their teeth to re-enamelize like that. Well, I am now a believer. Nourishing Traditions is for real, and it was with Rami's explanation and guidance that I found a way to help my body contain the damage in my teeth. My relief at this outcome is immeasurable.
We have been conditioned to believe that the only opinions worth having are those that come from people who have been formally trained and licensed, but I believe that formal training can be restricted and biased, and does not necessarily consider all possibilities. Here is the work of someone who questions the knee-jerk assumptions of the industry and who has taken the trouble to do the research and the self-experimentation in an effort to find a better way. I am very appreciative that Rami has chosen to share his findings, relieving us from each having to go through the whole process of trial and error from scratch. And he brings some much-needed balance to a subject that is approached by so many from a place of fear."
Maki, Los Angeles
"I was diagnosed by various dentists that I would have to remove several teeth and get implants and redo some root canals as well. I didn't like the idea since I have had a lot of work done in my mouth already and it seemed that I was just digging a bigger hole. I was very stressed about it since all the estimates were sky high as well.
When I found your book and spoke with you I was enlightened and full of hope. I followed your advice and not only my gum infections receded but I lost 10 lbs and my migraines disappeared! (I used to have about one migraine a week). I went to the dentist two months ago and he said that we just need to keep an eye on one of the teeth but the rest is ok. So, I'm saved from doing all that dental work, I'm in better health and migraine free. I just wanted to share my story with you because since I read your book I have completely changed my lifestyle and I feel more in harmony with my body and I am so grateful for your existence!!! Thank you so much!!!"

"Have just bought and read your Ebook. I must say it is fantastic! It is the best and most complete information I have found anywhere. I literally spent days researching ways to cure dental decay/infections with very little to show for it… then I stumbled upon your website. Thankyou so much! I have been following almost all of your guidelines for 3 days now and am already feeling better."
Olivier, United Kingdom
"I finally read your book and it was really interesting. I wish I had it when first published as my front tooth that had a root canal and it didn't have any caries at all, it was just falling out and the dentist told me that it was because my body was rejecting it, therefore, lets have a root canal. Not knowing, I agreed.
Dr Mercola, just after I had it done was totally against such surgery on one of his video as well. I was just one month too early. Sob.... Before I read your book, I had a blood test as I was wondering why was I loosing bone mass and teeth etc... Plus the gout was still there, 3 month after stopping the booze, drinking fresh juices in the morning... I always more or less eat quite healthy as I cook everything, rarely get a take away or a sandwich and never a ready meal in years. I didn't know what was wrong.
Anyway, the analyse came back and I was borderline on vitamin D. Borderline meant deficient ( still Dr Mercolas advice).
The next day I went to get some D3 in form of oily fish, amazingly the gout dropped in 24 hours after the supplement. That was great.
Then I start reading your book and it show that same pattern with malnutrition/ lack of vitamins etc... I could see from where I was coming from with your knowledge. It was great.
I haven't been brave enough yet to eat raw livers ( the only one organically grown are chicken), I did few pate though.
I am having 2 raw eggs every morning with my juice ( as you and Dr mercola suggest, both of you are on the same line). Usually carrot/apple/orange/kiwi ( I know, the sweets one...)
I stopped drinking coffee.
Less bread, but I need it for my butter...
Taking about 3000 IU D3 everyday from fish livers ( sardines, mackerel and another that I can't remember)
All together now the 2 teeth that have a major bone loss are not as sensitive, this is great improvement. The teeth that had a root canal still feel odd, I guess this will never cease.
My health is bak to so much better, vibrant, alive. About my daughter we give her some D3 as well, not many sweet at all ( she was never really raised on sweet), good food cooked by mummy. Yellow butter as you suggested. I'll see her on the 21 for Christmas, I could then see the improvement.
After this long time I like to thank you for your writing, it was really an eye opener. I have been thinking now for few years why do we have too many teeth in the mouth ( wisdom teeth), you answer my question spot on. Brilliant.
All the best.
Have a great weekend and a happy Christmas caries free."
Logic Junkie - saw my youtube video's and bought the book.
"I bought your book, and I've been reading it for about a week now, when I have time. I very much like it.
I was fascinated by your discussion of the importance of phosphorous, and I'm surprised no one had ever emphasized it before. But it makes sense, when you think about the fact that the hydroxyapatite that makes up bone is mostly phosphate groups. Also, ATP is adenosine triphosphate, a phosphorous derivative, and the backbone of DNA and RNA themselves are sugar-phosphate chains.
I was diagnosed with dairy allergies at the age of five, and I've always been extremely intolerant of dairy ever since. But when I got on the blood type diet, it said that I could have fermented dairy, which turned out to be okay for me, shock of shocks. But when I read your book, you said that I could also have straight milk, but only if it was raw.
Well, I did a google search for locations where raw milk is available in my area, and it turns out that the sale of unpasteurized products are illegal in the entire state of Oregon, but not just across the river in Washington, where I live. And apparently a Whole Foods carries it just across town from me.
So I bought a small quart of it, and swished just a little bit around in my mouth, to see if I would get any of the characteristic swelling and itching that dairy typically brings me, but there was none. And then, when I drank a bit, there was no discomfort. But I noticed that the taste was incredibly good and pretty soon I downed the entire quart, and ran back and bought a second.
Well, to make a long story short, it's been about three weeks now that I've been buying the stuff, and I feel amazing. I've also been having the two raw free-range eggs that you suggested, and it's brought down the swelling in my abdomen that I've had for a year or so now."
E. Cohen from Florida
"Before reading this book, I had what looked like a bunch of brownish chips forming at the gum line of a bunch of teeth in my mouth - and they were forming fast it seemed. I immediately took action, researched some on the internet, and liked what I heard about this book. So I ordered this book, and some of the food supplements that Ramiel suggests (the butteroil and cod liver oil). I started taking the supplements regularly, eating foods either raw or near raw, avoiding processed sugar at all cost, eating fewer fruits but a ton more vegetables, avoiding wheat flour, etc... I also stopped using toothpaste and other products with either flouride or glycerine. My teeth have actually re-enameled over the brown spots quite a bit - I definately have had regrowth. In addition to this, I must be generating more hormones now because I've got more passionate energy and my body has gotten quicker and stronger. He offers great advice I feel on eating healthy in general. I'm not even stictly following all his advice, just some of it. I should re-read the book and incorporate more into my life."
Baby Bottle Tooth Decay Testimonials
Marina - Ontario, Canada
"My daughter Jessica is 4.5, and she has tooth decay, severe, you might say. My other daughter, Nancy, 3.5 has perfect teeth. While pregnant with Nancy, I followed Dr. Weston Price's suggestions on diet. When Nancy was born, she was breastfed and then given raw milk formula. With Jessica, I had no knowledge what-so-ever about a good diet. I did not eat well at all. Jessica has a few cavities and the dentists are surprised that she is so little but already has so many." -
Mrs. Brown, Canada
"I've always known deep down that teeth can heal naturally.
When my own daughter began having dental issues, I went on
a mission! Already been down that path, and being very
scarred from the dental experiences I endured, I knew I couldn't
put my child through it. I found Dr. Weston Price's research
and my instincts told me this was it! Ramiel has now written
a book, drawn from Price's findings, but specifically directed at restoring dental health. The result is a very comprehensive
book that lays it all out. He is honest. And the truth is
an incredible eye-opener! The protocol works. Get this book,
especially if you have children."
Mother, Writer
"The dentist didn't sound so urgent--two months ago he told us he'd be doing surgery or pulling teeth within a couple months--but this time he was more relaxed about it. Her tooth sensitivity appears to have diappeared. She doesn't wince when we brush her teeth anymore, and hasn't for a while."
Ira - Mother
"I have no words to describe the nightmare I went through, because of my baby's decaying teeth, to discover only a little part of the truth described in this book! If only someone could have given me this book before the conception of my first child! Still, I am so grateful for this book and Ramiel Nagel is for me a genius!
Tony, my son, developed very serious tooth decays on the upper front teeth when he was less than 15 months old. In less than a month two of his teeth almost disappeared. It was so stressful watching him that in no time we were scheduled for a surgery. The pediatric dentist at first blamed the bottle. However, when I told him my son NEVER used a bottle and was exclusively breastfed every two hours since birth, then the dentist blamed the NIGHTTIME BREASTFEEDING and went into advising us that if I don't stop breastfeeding my son at nighttime, soon, all of my son's teeth will decay!
Of course, we never went into the surgery and I didn't stop breastfeeding my son at nighttime until he was a little over 2.5 years old. Though at the time we didn't know about the magical diet described in this book. So, we treated our son's worst teeth with silver nitrate, a substance that shields the cavity and kills the nerves of the primary tooth, a method widely popular in Eastern European countries, where nobody puts a baby under anesthesia for a problem like this. I still can't find ANYWHERE else REASONABLE information for the CAUSE of my son's rapid decaying teeth. Only now, from this book, I know the problem was in my pre and post conception diet i.e. the lack of fundamental vitamins and good fats, needed not only for healthy teeth, but for the WHOLE BODY (especially the brain and the nervous system.) During my pregnancy I ate everything Nagel says I SHOULD NOT eat including cereals, pasteurized milk, food made of white wheat, the bad fats and absolutely no fish due to the American Pregnancy Advisory to avoid fish because of mercury.
Thank goodness, my son is smarter than me! When I saw him how he devoured a salmon and a chicken liver at a restaurant, I began cooking low mercury fish more often. Fish and chicken liver became quickly some of our favorite foods. We always loved nuts and oatmeal, the only GOOD food I ate during pregnancy. Though we never eliminated sugar food from our diets (It's just more difficult with children), only after those small changes + more shopping from the Wholefoods market, my son's teeth not only stopped from decaying, but even GREW MORE. Thus, now I am convinced it was not the silver nitrate that helped us, it was my son's LOVE for GOOD FOOD!
Now that I am expecting mother I'm eager to read Nagel's other book "Healing our Children" and God is my witness, I'll do anything he says and I am 100% sure I will have a very healthy baby! "
Mother from Pakistan
"Contradulations! If only there is a dentist around here that follows Dr. Price's methods. Anyways, I'm continuing with your suggestions. Thanks a lot for all your help. It was only you who suggested against pulling the tooth and now even the dentist says that. Wow!"
Ludmil, Bulgaria
"At about the age of 2 his teeth started getting brown spots on them. The dentist said there's nothing that can be done.
Well we came across the work of Weston Price and your lectures on YouTube (I translated them in Bulgarian, remember?). So we put the nature wisdom into practice - started making homemade goat cheese since and growing sunflower and alfalfa sprouts. He (our son) would eat two bowls of salad with goat cheese every day. Today, 1 year later, the brown spots are gone!"
Root Canal Testimonials
"Recently I ran into several complications with my teeth. I began to develop an abscess near my gums. I went to have it checked by my dentist, only to find out that the tooth was infected and I needed a root canal, and a crown. I was devastated by these news, I felt like not only my teeth were failing on me, but also my diet. I've been following Paleo Diet for well over three years. Over the years i've noticed increase in muscle strength, resistance to common colds, as well as physical endurance. Lately due to financial reasons, I was unable to afford to buy high quality raw grass-fed bison meat, and at times had to resort to SAD (standard american diet). I noticed that whenever I would eat cooked food, especially white flour, I would get an instant reaction, and develop an abscess on my gums withing a fifteen minutes. Later if I ate raw bison meat the swelling would deprecciate and dissapear by the next day. I was upset that I could see the link between my raw meat consumption and reduction in gum swelling, but my dentist could not. Luckly I was recommended to seek out the help of Rami Nagel through my Paleo Diet Yahoo group. I was glad to find someone who was both knowledgeable in proper diet application as well as dental caries. Rami Nagel was able to incorporate both fields, and the knowledge that foods can heal, and as a result I chose not to do the root canal procedure. He suggested for me to eat more raw meat, which I have began doing, since then I have zero cases of abscesses. Glad I went against the root canal." - Tim, Student
"Ramiel, You (along with Weston Price) saved my teeth. Was supposed to get a root canal (which I had no money to afford). Tooth was in pain. After three weeks on the diet I can feel a big difference, tooth doesn't hurt now and feels like it's healing. Thanks so much. Unbelievable!" Artist, Utah
"Me and my husband are getting there, his toothache is gone so it won't be having root canal." Magdaly, England
Gum Disease Testimonials
"I just went to the dental hygienist to get my bi-annual cleaning and yet again my gums have grown back even more and she really emphasized how amazingly healthy my gum tissue is....she said it was "very rare" to see such healthy tissue esp. in someone my age...I'm only 43, so it says a lot about people my age. She said I was doing a good job...but she was referring to my hygiene...I had to really be clear with her that I never floss and I really don't brush that well...she was surprised...Thanks for all...I'm giving my hygienist and my dentist copies of your book" Madeleine
Tooth Grinding Testimonials
From Michael J. in Milpitas California
"When we are awake, look at the situations in which we clinch our jaw. These situations are general negative- when we are in pain, stressed, angry, etc... I believe the same thing applies to when we are sleeping. I believe we clinch our jaw and grind our teeth when sleeping when there is stress on our bodies. This stress can be mental/emotional, nutritional, physical, and/or environmental.
Since your book on teeth mainly addressed nutrition, let me mention that first. When you are sleeping, your body shuts down and spends a major amount of effort on digestion. I believe that if you are eating things that are not agreeable with your body, this places an uncomfortable stress on the body.
I also believe that teeth clinching and grinding can be a sign of mental/emotional stress. Some people have stressful negative situations in their life. Some people have personalities in which they put stress on themselves, are extremely impatient, anger easily, have a heightened sense of anxiety, etc....
On the physical side, our modern lifestyle has caused a significant amount of muscular imbalances in our bodies. Doctors give fancy names to numerous problems we have in regards to the (joint, muscle, tendon, etc.) pains people have in their body, but as an Muscle Balance and Function practitioner, I have found that root cause of many of those things are due to muscular imbalances. The alignment of people's bodies have deviated farther and farther from its original design. These muscular imbalances place a tremendous stress on the body.
As far as environmental, as we surrounded by so much unnatural and toxic crap. This is places a tremendous amount of stress on our bodies.
So for me, I was able to resolve my teeth grinding and clinching because I addressed all the areas I mentioned. I made changes to my mental/emotional state. I changed my diet. I worked on and continue to work on correctly the muscular imbalances in my body. I cleared out as much of the toxic products in my home as possible."

Ranko Medved, Alternative Health Researcher From Croatia
"I was at the dentist office and he found a small cavity. I did not let him "fix" it because I felt there must be a natural way to do it. After a brief search it was obvious "Cure Tooth Decay" was the way to do it, when the book came I was left astonished by the wisdom inside it.
The main point to stop tooth decay (and any other illness) is to not eat
industry processed food. After that you should eat natural food and
drink not polluted water.
The book helped me realise two truths:
1.
You can eat very healthy, but if you eat store bread it will pull down
all the power of all other good foods you have eaten!
Any industry processed food is made to do that. Not to kill you but to
pull you down. So you accept lifes dullness as it as and obey
authority. Such food was needed so the workers in industrial age would not
question their misery. Food is the same today.
2.
It gradually helped my consciousness ditch commercial food. That is the
hardest part to achieve because many times in my life I decided to get
rid of processed foods, but hidden fears and doubts creeped in!
And I was not successful.
This book is the best vehicle I found to help your conciseness grow
above unnatural modern marketing of: pasta, bread, cereals, white
rice...
I have a substantial knowledge of alternative medicine and yoga. All
alternative medicine systems tell you to get rid of processed foods.
But when you try to do it you inevitably have huge fears:
"What will I eat if I do not eat bread"
"Bread is the best food for me"
"Natural food is very expensive"
"What will others think"
This book energetically helps you to actually do it. It is a vehicle towards higher good.
It changes your perception of reality.
It changes the reality.
It has passed 2 months from when I last ate processed foods, I feel
better, and unimaginable as it may sound: I spend less money on food!
For 2 months I did not eat:
Bread. All bread bought in store is bad, even organic store bread.
Bread prepared in traditional ways is fantastic-if you can find it.
Pasta. Pasta is a horrible product of industry, avoid at all costs.
After the book it is easy to do.
White rice. Jet Another horrible product made only for profit.
I knew that but hidden unconscious blockages prevented me to ditch it.
Now I can easily do without it.
My cavity has gotten smaller!
Once you are set free from being a slave to modern foods of commerce
author continues to explain how the ancient people ate.
They were healthy, strong and good looking.
They had no cavities. They had no illness.
Until familiar western culture came to visit them.
If you are reading this review I am sure you understand something is
not right in the world.
That we are born to live under a certain hypnosis. That we are taught to
give away our responsibility to "people with authority", and those
people cannot even take care of themselves. I recommend this book if you want the way out."
"Excellent Resource: At Last - a search for the real truth... The author has chosen to go beyond and look for the real cause and I think he has found it. I have used a similar method to halt tooth decay in my family and it works. Well researched and well presented." - Parent
"This book is an incredible resource for anyone who has teeth, and wants to keep them as long as possible, in the best of health. This book will not only change the health of your teeth, but your life, since both are so closely connected - and this book will teach you how.
From illustrating how tooth decay occurs in the first place to showing you how to prevent and even heal it with simple, effective and proven strategies, this book will not only set you off in the right direction for your teeth but also help you save potentially thousands of dollars in unecessary dental work but also may save you from other degenerative health issues like arthritis, diabetes, heart disease, even cancer - and not only your own but that of your whole family, especially your children.
If you've ever had a root canal or are contemplating having one done, read this book first!
This book belongs in every American household, and especially in every single dentist's office in this country!
Don't delay - get this book today and start learning from a gifted author and researcher who not only turned around his own dental health but also that of his young daughter who had tooth decay at age 3. Once you pick it up, you won't want to put it down - at least that was my experience!
There are also wonderful resources in this book, from websites to online groups to help you further your dental health. I truly can't recommend this book highly enough!
My only wish is that it had been available 10 years ago - but better late than never! My next book is going to be the author's other book, "Healing Our Children" - sure to be another insightful read. " Ilona - health consultant.
"Even though Rami Nagel thought he was eating a healthy whole food diet, he and his daughter still had tooth decay. When he learned about the valuable nutritional work of Dr. Weston A. Price, he integrated nutrient dense foods into their diets and, miraculously, their teeth improved. The author has done a tremendous job summarizing the important work of one of the greatest dentists of the 20th century, Dr. Weston A. Price. In order to determine the fundamentals of a healthy diet, Dr. Price travelled the world, studying the diet and health of a variety of cultures. He noticed that in primitive cultures where the people consumed a nutrient dense, whole food diet, they enjoyed both excellent physical and dental health. Cultures that had replaced nutrient dense, whole foods with commercially processed foods suffered with dental problems as well as chronic and degenerative diseases.
In order to convey his message about the critical association between traditional foods and optimal health, the author offers a great deal of helpful personal insights into his own life. He summarizes which foods will sabotage our dental and physical health. And, he does an excellent job outlining the foods that will improve our dental and physical health including, the consumption of fat-soluble vitamins from foods such as raw butter, raw milk, raw cheese, organ meats, eggs (from local pastured sources) and high vitamin cod liver oil.
Even though indigenous people did not brush or floss their teeth, the author does include some very interesting recipes for natural, homemade tooth powders (a much better option over using toxic fluoridated toothpaste).
Not only is Cure Tooth Decay a practical guide to teach parents how to raise healthy children (with healthy teeth), it is also a helpful tool for adults who have suffered with poor dental health and/or chronic disease. I would also highly recommend this book to people who are looking for things they can do to protect their bones, and their overall health, as they age. In other words, this book is a must read for everyone interested in improving their health." Pam Killeen New York Times Bestselling Author
"Rami Nagel is an "ordinary mortal" who has, by virtue of necessity and courage to dare - and the remarkable archive of anthropological-medical data created by Dr. Weston Price achieved an extraordinary goal - arresting and reversing what most people and practitioners routinely believe to be an inevitable degeneration in dental health
He has come at his subject with all the doubts, hopes and vulnerabilities of a layman whose inner quest will not allow him to be satisfied with the pathological state of affairs that modern medicine takes to be "normal". It is normal in the truest sense of the word - meaning, the condition of the majority, the mean, the present state of things. But normal is not necessarily natural, and the quest for the natural is clearly what inspired both Weston Price and Rami Nagel.
While there are many ways of providing the essential elements required for the job, Nagel chooses to model his approach on that of Dr. Price, who did decades of detailed study and analysis which few now would care to undertake.
However, other - not incompatible - paths exist, such as the very promising potential of modulating the pH acid-alkaline balance in the bloodstream, a pre-condition which is pivotal in virtually all other and later developments in human physiology. One brief example will do: it is necessary for the salivary pH to be at least 6.5 in order for new enamel to be formed.
Even if all other conditions are ideal, and this is not the case, the desired results may not occur. Ideally, "primal" nutrition would create such a condition, but years - perhaps decades - of extreme imbalance (even on well-intended diets), but experience shows that, at least initially, more aggressive measures may often be needed to rectify the all-important fluid state of the body.
Nagel's book is admirable for its honesty, clarity and inspirational power, and deserves to be taken as the deeply valuable resource which it is, collating hundreds of pages of clinical research and distilling it into user-friendly form for impatient contemporary readers and needers." "This book gave me the insights I needed when I was in tremendous pain and fear because of a dental crisis. I hadn't been to a dentist in 20 years, and because of this book, I was able to avoid them long enough to gain the strategic insight so I would not just be another casualty of a society which forgets its origin in Nature. Coming home to Nature has been fulfilling on such a primal level. I feel more of who I am as a physical being on this plane. All my life, I've watched the follies of Western Medicine, along with the good deeds, and have been surprised at the disparities. Diet & Core Beliefs are my first priorities when any physical ailment arises. Addressing them effectively has ALWAYS given me the results I've desired."
J. Holiday
"I found this easy to read book about nutrition and tooth decay to be a well researched, common sense approach to health. I have started to follow the diet proposed in the book and after 7 weeks, I am seeing results in my over all energy levels and reversal of my dental issues. I would recommend this book."

In "Cure Tooth Decay," author and health & nutrition pioneer Ramiel Nagel illuminates the true causes of poor dental health and summarizes the route to healing from it. He uses understandable language and an easy flowing style to point out where modern dental medicine has failed us, and what the research has to say about using nutrition to get our health back on track.
The trail-blazing dentist Weston Price outlined the mistakes western society has made investing in "foods of modern commerce," and revealed how primitive cultures in the 1930's (now largely decimated by modernization) had remained immune to tooth decay. However, as anyone who has ever tried to read his dissertation "Nutrition and Physical Degeneration" can tell you, it is not for the faint of heart. Rami Nagel has translated Dr. Price's research, along with that of Melvin Page, DDS and many others, into a primer that anyone interested in better health can pick up and absorb.
"Cure Tooth Decay" provides a synthesis of scientific research and updated healing protocols, complete with resources for further research and where to find the nutritional supplements you may need on your road to superior health.

"This book is based on the work of Dr Weston Price as well as the author's own research and experience. It provides a comprehensive nutritional plan (in both vegetarian (not vegan) and omnivore forms) for strengthening teeth, preventing decay, and possibly healing existing decay.
The book has excellent information on the cause of decay and the effects of various commonly used dental treatments. Nagel challenges the reader to take responsibility for their own dental health. For example, how many people regularly examine their own teeth in any detail? Most of us simply believe the dentist knows best what is happening in our own mouths. Not that dentists are not necessary, but they do not have all the answers, and some of their treatments are highly invasive and potentially problematic. And of course, very few dentists work on a nutritional level, which is the focus of this book.
The state of our teeth reflects the state of our health and I believe that this nutritional program will help to improve both. I am trying it especially on my husband, who has numerous dental issues and I believe was malnourished most of his life."

Why is our modern society so plagued by tooth decay? Did indigenous people from primitive cultures suffer as we do, with rotting teeth? Knowing the cause of the problem is always the first step in correcting it. Ramiel Nagel, in this book about curing tooth decay, addresses these questions and much more. Ramiel does an excellent job exposing the root of the problem. He explains the difference between true prevention and just temporarily treating the symptoms.
The author is not a doctor or a dentist, but became intensely interested in the subject of curing tooth decay due to his young daughter's badly decaying teeth. This situation caused him to be fearful and it was this fear and his love for his daughter which motivated him to find a solution to his daughter's pain and suffering.
I have come to learn through much negative experience with the mainstream medical system, that knowledge acquired through medical school, which is mostly funded by the drug companies and other corporations, is not designed to serve the public's best interests. It is instead designed for profit. Discouraging natural preventative and curative treatments, while promoting only symptomatic treatments, allows the disease process to progress underneath the surface and provides an avenue for future profits. Ramiel Nagel reveals how this conundrum is especially relevant to modern dental care. I love the following example he uses to illustrate this concept.
" In this example, imagine that a tooth is an orange. Imagine a rotting orange, with a small moldy spot. The moldy spot is equivalent to tooth decay. The equivalent of a dentist placing a dental filling would be removing the moldy spot with a knife and filling the spot with glue. Once the mold is removed, the decay process temporarily slows down. A few more days sitting out, and another moldy spot forms. This is just like how, over time, tooth decay continues to progress even after you get a filling." Ramiel travels a bit farther with this comparison, including the root canal procedure.
The author's purpose in writing this book is to share information with readers which will aide them in taking responsibility for their own dental care and for the dental care of their children. Nagel has researched the groundbreaking works of Dr. Weston Price, a dentist who traveled the world, comparing the health of indigenous people eating their native diets, to those in or near the cities who were consuming refined foods. Dr. Weston Price found, without exception, that those eating the unrefined natural foods had very strong constitutions, moral character and well formed facial and jaw structure. Their health was so excellent that there was no need for doctors or prisons. Those eating the denatured foods, in the more "civilized" areas, had to deal with deformed sinus and jaw structure, rotting teeth, increased crime and increased susceptibility to infectious disease.
Nagel stresses the importance of fat soluble vitamins and activators. He explains what they are and what foods supply them. Activators are natural substances, which are not usually present in our modernized diets. They are needed to aide the absorption of important vitamins and minerals. He talks about the importance of eating some foods raw and fermented, including dairy products and organ meats. Fish liver oil also plays an important role in dental and overall skeletal health.
The book provides a daily guideline or protocol for curing and preventing tooth decay. Ramiel lists the foods which are important in helping to form strong teeth and bones. He also lists food to avoid. He tells us it is not possible to regrow a whole tooth but decay can be stopped and hard dentin can be formed over the pulp of a decayed tooth, which prevents pain and the need for a root canal. Our body's calcium phosphorus ratio needs to be in balance and so do our blood sugar levels. I'd like to include one more quote from page 37 of "Cure Tooth Decay"
"The longer your blood sugar is out of balance, and the greater the imbalance, the more the calcium and phosphorus ratios are altered, and thus the higher the likelihood of tooth decay. This explains why frequent snacking on sugar causes significant decay; the blood sugar remains out of balance for a longer period of time, causing more calcium to be removed from the bones. This also illustrates that even natural sugars from fruits, natural sweeteners, and alcohols can contribute to tooth decay. All of them can place the blood sugar level out of balance."
Nagel also includes discussion on root canals, fillings, the dangers of fluoride, xrays and a special section on children's dental health. I found this book to be packed with helpful common sense information. I will keep it close by as a personal guide to not only achieving superior dental health but also general overall health. Our teeth are one of the outward visible manifestations of the internal balance and health of the body.
Ramiel Nagel has no conflicts of interest, no products to sell, except his book, which he hopes will reach and help many overcome and prevent tooth decay. This is a very different type of health book, written from the heart. The information provided is rooted in trial and error experience along with extensive research into the works of Dr.Weston Price, dentist Melvin Page, anthropologist Leon Abrams, and others. The dietary advice put forth in this book is not only crucial for preventing tooth decay but for preserving the health of the human race." Marjorie Tietjen

I am very much a do-it-yourself person, and I wished I could take care of my teeth all on my own and that I never had to go to visit any dentists - now there is a hope that I can take much better care of my teeth than I suspected before.
Years ago I met a woman who was about 50 years old and who had perfect teeth - she never had any dental problems and when I asked her for her secret she said throughout her life she brushed her teeth only with salt and sodium bicarbonate. It sounded pretty simple and I didn't give it much thought at a time, but if one cause of tooth decay is too much acid in saliva, then the fact that sodium bicarbonate would alkalinize the mouth and protect the teeth from decay would make sense.
Putting few drops of clove essential oil, oregano oil, tea tree oil in a bit of sesame and olive oil as a base works great to kill infections and reduce pain. CoQ10 helps to strengthen the gums.
The author of this book shares a nutritional protocol that would help to strengthen gums and teeth - the essence of which are common sense suggestions presented in any book on healing through nutrition, namely that we should eat food as close to their natural state as possible.
This book has more specific food recommendations and even though the nutritional protocol is offered both for vegetarians and non-vegetarians, it seems that according to the author the optimal nutrition for better teeth consists of a good deal of meat and on top of it - raw meet, which may not be exactly the cup of tea of most people. The author doesn't seem sure whether vegetarian nutrition can provide sufficient nutrients, yet I can't help but think of countless people in India, for example, who are vegetarian and do have perfect teeth.
The other day a friend of mine who often travelled to India mentioned that she met there a woman who was very poor and had barely enough food, but she had perfect teeth - the woman used to brush her teeth with earth and twigs from some tree (perhaps neem).
The author shares several pictures of people whose nutrition was as close to nature of their region as possible and who had perfect teeth and beside them are pictures of people from the same region who fed themselves mostly with processed food that is popular in the "civilized" world. Those people had half of their teeth missing and they look more like extreme cases, nevertheless our bodies being like a chemical laboratories, with our cells constantly renewing, the body can renew itself only with the whatever we put into it and if we feed our bodies with food that has no nutritional value, no wonder that our bodies are falling apart.
The author of this book doesn't claim that he has all the answers and ultimately we are encouraged to experiment, to listen to our bodies and to find out what works best for us.
The book contains few recipes for making your own tooth powder and assortment of remedies for dealing with gum and tooth issues. He also provides addresses of several websites where you can find more resources. I do consider the book informative, inspiring and altogether helpful." Laura De Giorgio Top 500 Book Reviewer
"I'm one of those lucky folks who never had a cavity, despite a
childhood filled with Lucky Charms and spaghetti-O-s, so I was shocked
when my daughter showed signs of deep decay on her two back molars at
age five, especially since I was trying to follow the Weston A. Price
dietary protocol. On closer inspection, I realized I'd fallen into the
"Whole Foods trap," you know, where you cook the bone broths and rich gelatinous stews that your kids pick at, while in reality they feed on the "treats" like organic cheese puffs and sandwich cremes. I was also relying on raw milk and raw dairy as a magic bullet. I drove an hour to a good holistic dentist who uses digital x-rays and no fluoride, and he recommended healozone, MI paste and a protocol of encouraging remineralization. Ramiel Nagel's book was just the ticket for me in encouraging this process, and I'm deeply grateful, both for the pragmatic guidelines and for the enlightened parenting. I agree with him that there is a sadistic force at work in the way our children's dental health is treated. Apparently, it is not uncommon these days for little kindergartners to have had gold crowns, to lose molars prematurely due to decay, etc. Then, there are all the little "mouth breathers" whose facial structure has been deformed through lack of fat-soluable vitamins during gestation; visit any McDonald's or Costco on the weekend, and you'll spot some of these kids with the abnormally narrow noses and palates. It really freaks me out.
Here's my 2 cents: For anyone fascinated by dentistry, I'd recommend the naturopathic physician Louisa William's brilliant book "Radical Medicine" in tandem with Nagel's. Williams has additional information on the use of homeopathic cell salts like calc phos to encourage bone growth (for wide palate) and remineralization. She includes a wealth of detail and photos on holistic vs. conventional orthodontic practices. She also goes into detail about the link between chronic dental focal infections and overall health, and she's especially good on the insideous focal infections caused by improperly extracted wisdom teeth, resulting in silently gangrenous pockets of bone tissue.
I'd also recommend to anyone interested in homeopathic dentistry the usefulness of consulting with a good naturopathic physician. In my daughter's case, a naturopath discovered her dairy allergy and prescribed probiotics and herbal drainage remedies. I wonder if the dairy allergy could somehow be linked to her cavities, perhaps proof of the lack of homeostasis Nagel writes about. As a side note, my daughter's chronic anxiety and stomach aches disappeared after avoiding all dairy, even quality raw dairy. I also want to share that I followed Weston A. Price dietary protocol during my second pregnancy, including high vitamin cod-liver oil to 20,000 i.u.s of vit. A daily and raw liver and dairy, and my second daughter has an incredibly wide palate; it will be interesting to see how she fares with cavities; unlike her sister, she had no fluoride drops as an infant and was only partially immunized. Nagel's book sent me off to the market with a renewed sense of the sacred importance of feeding children, and it turns out my kids love chicken liver pate." Glacier Mom
