Tooth abscess is almost gone, what do I do next?

Question: I have a lower molar tooth abscess, aggravated by fast eating and a  lack of cleaning. As a result food stuck in my tooth injured gum. After some care with diet, chewing and oral hygiene the tooth infection moved away from the tooth. It became a gum boil that eventually healed (over several months). Finally now it seems like the slight soreness in my bite is going away. But I want to be sure there is no remaining root infection or chance of bone problem. Do you have suggestions over and above basic dietary considerations? Have used a rinse of golden seal, myrrh,  saltwater and recently started taking oregano oil caps.

Answer: It looks like you are doing plenty for the tooth topically. Since it it healing up slowly, I am going to guess that your diet is not adequate. There are a few people who do not absorb nutrients well. Assuming that you are not one of them, I recommend you look into the fat-soluble food groups. In particular, eat more grassfed butter, and have liver a few times per week. Alternatively consider taking some fermented cod liver oil. Fat-soluble vitamins A and D have been know to help protect against infections.
