Gingivitis

Gingivitis is the term used for the first stage of gum disease. Symptoms include red, swollen or gums that easily bleed. If untreated, it can continue and lead to gum loss.

Gingiva means gums

Itis means inflammation

Why Should You Care About Gingivitis?

Over time if your gums are inflamed and the condition is not improved, it will get worse. Gingivitis is a minor disease, which may not cause immediate problems, but it is an indication that something is out of balance with your body.

Why Are My Gums Inflamed?

There are several reasons why gums could be inflamed. One common reason could be food particles stuck in the gums, but this is not a disease.

Inflammation is the response of the body to engage in a protecting mechanism. The inflammation serves to protect the deeper structures. Gums could inflame if there are acrid and toxic wastes in the mouth or in the blood flowing to the gums, or, gums could inflame if the gums are deteriorating and the cell walls are more easily ruptured or are damaged due to regular chewing of food.

In the bigger picture, the food you eat, the care for your gums, and the amount of toxic burden in your body are the primary factors that cause gingivitis. It has little to do with how much you brush, unless you overly brush and damage your gums.

Gingivitis Is NOT Caused By Dental Plaque

Plaque is sticky residue in your mouth, it is also everywhere else in your body. It does not come from bacteria, but has to do with your biochemical make-up which is a factor of your diet, lifestyle and toxic body burden. Bacteria clean up and eat decayed matter in our body, they do not cause disease.

How To Treat Gingivitis

Consider the herbal remedies on my gum disease page.

If I had it, I would probably buy an oral irrigator, which is basically a water pick, it can be used to clean out debris under the gums.

Healing Gums

It should no longer be a secret that our bodies decay because we eat the wrong types of foods.

When our bodies are in a state of decay, everything does not function as well. For some people, this could result in sore joints, weak muscles, poor skin or vision, and in other people, the result is gum pain and inflammation. Gum inflammation can also increase from eating certain irritating foods, particularly sweet foods.

While my gums were never inflamed, by teeth used to feel very loose in my mouth, I could easily wiggle them. This is a sign of a weak periodontal ligament. My teeth are now strong, and my gums are much healthier. The body will heal itself given the right types of foods.

To promote the healing process while improving your diet, herbs and a dental pick can be used.
